One Week Workshop

We are excited to invite you to a unique sculpting workshop

Experience in a traditional Pietrasanta marble studio. This workshop offers an incredible opportunity to immerse yourself in the art of sculpting, where you’ll have the chance to create your own masterpiece under the expert guidance of Marcello Giorgi.
During this one-week intensive workshop, students will focus on the creation of a sculpted portrait. Participants will work from a live reference, using photographs taken during the workshop, or alternatively choose to create a self-portrait.
Throughout the entire course, Marcello Giorgi will demonstrate live, working alongside the students and guiding them step by step through all phases of the sculpting process.

Workshop Goals

The workshop is structured to begin with the fundamentals of head construction, with particular attention to proportions and anatomy. From there, students will progressively work on likeness, realism, and expressive qualities.

The goal of the course is not simply to achieve a faithful resemblance. Marcello’s approach to portraiture goes beyond technical accuracy, encouraging students to see the portrait as a powerful artistic language — a unique opportunity to express individuality, emotion, and personal vision, transforming the study of the human face into a true work of art.

By the end of the workshop, students will have the option to realize their final projects in terracotta. Finished works can be fired and prepared for shipment to their destination upon request (shipping costs are not included in the workshop fee).

AIRFARE

For the sculpture workshops participants are responsible for purchasing airline tickets and other modes of transportation (car rental, train tickets, taxi and Uber as needed) to reach Pietrasanta. They are also responsible for being onsite at the start of the first class. 

INSURANCE REQUIREMENT

Students are responsible for securing their own insurance to cover all eventualities. It’s essential to ensure adequate coverage for your needs, especially during any travel or activities related to the workshop.
